How to Install IPTV on LG WebOS TV
IPTV on LG WebOS TV works well once configured correctly, but several common problems trip up new users. This guide follows a problem-and-solution format — find your issue and apply the fix directly.
Problem 1: The IPTV app I want is not in the LG Content Store
LG’s Content Store has a more limited app catalogue than Google Play. Many popular IPTV players are not listed there. The solution: use IBO Player Pro, which is available in the LG Content Store on WebOS 4.0 and later. Search for it by name directly in the store. If your TV runs an older WebOS version, IBO Player Pro may still appear — search before assuming it is absent. BOB Player is the second option to try if IBO does not appear on your specific model.
Problem 2: The app asks for a portal URL but I have M3U credentials
Some LG-compatible IPTV apps support multiple credential types. Open the app’s settings or “Add Playlist” menu and look for a tab or option labelled M3U URL or External Playlist. Paste your M3U link there. If you have Xtream Codes credentials instead (server URL + username + password), switch to the Xtream or Portal tab and fill in those three fields. Your provider sends the correct format via WhatsApp — use whichever type matches what you received.
Problem 3: Channels load but freeze every few seconds
Freezing on an LG TV despite a fast internet connection is usually caused by Wi-Fi signal instability. LG TVs handle wired connections significantly better for live streaming. Connect an Ethernet cable to the TV’s LAN port (all LG TVs with WebOS have one) and test again. If freezing persists over wired Ethernet, the issue is likely on the network or ISP side — restart your router, ensure no other devices are saturating your bandwidth during the stream, and contact WhatsApp support if the problem continues.
Problem 4: The EPG programme guide shows no data
EPG loading on LG depends on the app correctly linking to the EPG source embedded in your M3U or Xtream connection. In IBO Player Pro, go to Settings > EPG and check that the EPG URL field is populated. If it is empty, ask your provider for the EPG URL to enter manually. EPG data typically takes a few minutes to fully load on first setup. Leave the app running on the home screen for 3–5 minutes to allow the guide to populate.
Problem 5: My credentials worked yesterday but the app shows an error today
Credential errors after a period of working correctly are almost always caused by one of three things: the subscription has expired, the number of simultaneous connections has been exceeded (someone else is using the same credentials at the same time), or the provider has rotated the server address. Check your subscription end date, ensure only the permitted number of devices are connected simultaneously, and if needed contact your provider to confirm the server details are current. For Sportztv4k subscribers, WhatsApp support can verify your account status in minutes.
Problem 6: The app crashes when I try to open a channel
App crashes on LG WebOS are often caused by insufficient memory when the channel list is very large. Close all other apps on the TV before opening your IPTV player. In the LG TV settings, go to General > TV Safety > Memory (the exact path varies by WebOS version) and clear cached data. Some users find that turning the TV off completely (not just standby) and restarting it resolves persistent crash issues by fully flushing memory.
Problem 7: I get a “network error” even though my TV is connected to the internet
Network errors specific to the IPTV app — while other TV apps work fine — usually indicate a DNS or firewall issue. Your router may be blocking the IPTV server’s domain or port. Try changing your TV’s DNS to a public resolver: go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Connection > Advanced Settings, disable “Automatic DNS”, and enter 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google) as the primary DNS. Save and retry. This resolves the issue in a large proportion of cases. See the setup guide for more device-specific tips.
